5 questions with guest interview

Hi I'm Karla and I am the founder of Assistant Anxiety! I created this account to share my experiences with managing anxiety with the hope of helping others. Thank you for having me! 

1. What’s the biggest misconception people have about anxiety?

That it is something that is not permanent. When you have anxiety, in particular Generalised Anxiety Disorder, you feel anxious all the time like something bad is going to happen.

2. How would you describe anxiety simply to a 5-year-old?

Anxiety is like when there is a monster chasing you and you cannot get away unless you face it and do something about it. And even then you have to try and not feed it or it will continue to chase you.

3. Have you tried feeling bad for helping someone because he/she said you weren’t any help?

I find that if I feel I cannot help someone then I simply stay with them and listen.

4. How would you convince a stranger not to mental health lightly?

Poor mental health is just as important as physical health. If you do not take care of your mind, then eventually everything will build up and you will not be able to do even the simplest of tasks.

5. What are the common reasons that trigger you to be in a state of anxiety?

If someone tells me off at work or says that I am not doing enough. If I have a lot to do and feel like I do not have enough time. Spending endless hours by myself and not leaving the house. If I have said something and the person reacts badly. Change also makes me anxious because I cannot predict what will happen next.
