5 questions with guest interviews

Hi guys! I’m Megan and I run @megslifehacks_ and www.megslifehacks.com. My blog focuses on lifestyle and travel with a ‘hint of adulting.’ Essentially, my aim is to just take you guys along with me as I journey through my twenties, and hope that you also will get something useful from the lessons I’m learning along the way! As well as blogging, I’m also on a full time master’s degree, studying broadcast journalism - which is basically training in TV/radio.

1. What made you pursue journalism?

That’s a good question! In a nutshell, it incorporates a lot of things I’m interested in. I’ve always been very indecisive when choosing a career, as I felt I had to pick a specific pathway. But since starting my journalism degree, I’ve realised that it combines so many different elements I love including presenting, writing, filming and even ethics! I’ve always been drawn to journalism as I’m a pretty curious person, and I’m very interested in interviewing in the future.

2. Do you consider yourself someone who plans out everything or someone who lives life spontaneously?

I’m definitely more spontaneous. Although I do have some plans, I’ve always tended to get anxious when thinking too far ahead about the future. So I prefer the surprises that life gives me! If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be pursuing a tv career, I wouldn’t have believed you because I wasn’t as confident at the time. I also find that living in the present makes you so much more grateful for where you are, rather than always focusing on what you haven’t got yet. You have to value the journey as well as the destination.

3. What is an advocacy you'd like to voice out to the world should you be given an influence bigger than the on you have now?

I’ve always worried a bit about this question actually. Because having a large platform does carry a degree of responsibility. And there’s just so many issues in the world, as a human being, I won’t be able to give everything equal attention at all times. I guess I would try to be as authentic as possible, and share messages that are close to my heart. It might sound a bit generic, but I think the internet don’t talk about empathy enough and how important it really it. So I think empathy would be something I’d love to encourage my followers to practise.

4. Cite characteristics of a role model that you possess. Why do you say so?

I don’t know where to begin! I admire Malala and Vee Kativhu for their work ethics and advocacy for education. I also admire the beauty influencer Kaushal Beauty because I feel she’s a very authentic and wholesome blogger, who is unapologetically herself.

5. How would you define a fulfilled life?

Although we all naturally want to be successful, I think a fulfilled life does not equate to success. Wherever you are in terms of your success, fulfilment will come from gratitude and learning to exist in the present moment. There’s a lot of elements that come into fulfilment such as pursuing what you’re passionate about, and getting out of your comfort zone too! I could probably ramble about this forever. Long story short, you have to do what makes you happy. Which I think goes well beyond just a career. It’s also about finding peace within yourself

Have a lovely day Monique! Thanks for letting me be a part of this series!

Best wishes,

Megan
